Banwo & Ighodalo received the prestigious Capital Markets Team of the Year Award at the Law Digest Africa Awards 2018.

This award was in recognition of our role as Joint Legal Advisers to the Debt Management Office and the Federal Government of Nigeria (“FGN”) in connection with the issuance by the FGN of N100,000,000,000 (One Hundred Billion Naira) sovereign non-interest financing instruments (“Sukuk”) in the domestic capital market. This marked the first sovereign Sukuk issued by the FGN. The issuance was reported to have been oversubscribed by 5.8%.

Attended by senior industry professionals from across Africa, the ceremony was held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel yesterday, 27 October 2018.

Banwo & Ighodalo was also shortlisted in a number of other award categories for our work across a range of high profile matters.
